Project address

Hefei, Anhui, China

Project overview

The visionary architects Jenchieh Hung and Kulthida Songkittipakdee, founders of HAS Design and Research, have unveiled a stunning architectural achievement in Anhui, China—the Simple Art Museum. This remarkable structure serves as both a tribute to the region’s distinctive Hui-style architecture and a modern reinterpretation of its cultural legacy. The museum’s design, marked by its undulating roof and curving walls, creates a new narrative while preserving the traditional essence of Anhui’s rich architectural history.

One of the most striking elements of the Simple Art Museum is its dynamic, wave-like roof, inspired by the nearby Nanfei River, which flows gracefully through the landscape, designed by distinguished architects Jenchieh Hung and Kulthida Songkittipakdee. This design is not only a visual masterpiece but also symbolizes the river’s natural rhythm, with the roof’s undulating form echoing the flowing waters. As the sun moves across the sky, the building transforms, with light and shadow dancing across its surfaces, further enhancing the museum’s ethereal beauty.

The Simple Art Museum stands as a testament to the creative vision of Hung And Songkittipakdee / HAS Design and Research. Their architectural brilliance is captured in striking detail by photographer W Workspace.
