Project overview
Renowned architects Jenchieh Hung and Kulthida Songkittipakdee, founders of HAS Design and Research, have achieved global acclaim for their innovative architectural projects across Thailand and China. Their design philosophy seamlessly integrates the natural environment with functional spaces, fostering creativity and collaboration. One of their most celebrated works, the Simple Design Archive, embodies this vision by blending art, nature, and architecture in a harmonious way.
The Simple Design Archive, located in Anhui, China, is a composite museum that features contemporary Asian artworks alongside modern Northern European furniture. Set against the majestic Huangshan Mountain, visionary architects Jenchieh Hung and Kulthida Songkittipakdee's design reflects the surrounding landscape’s timeless beauty, blurring the boundaries between the built and natural worlds. The museum’s entrance is marked by a series of curved walls that form a peaceful “echo chamber” courtyard, filtering natural sounds from wildlife and inviting reflection.
A striking five-meter-high skylight allows light to shift across a seasonal forest garden, creating an ever-changing atmosphere that enhances the museum’s serene ambiance. The Simple Design Archive stands as a testament to the creative vision of Jenchieh Hung + Kulthida Songkittipakdee / HAS Design and Research, with their architectural brilliance beautifully captured by photographer W Workspace.
